Study Weekend

The Traditional
Roman Rite

11th - 13th September 2026

Exploring the elements and origins of the traditional Roman Rite

Canon Gwenael Cristofoli, ICKSP

The Traditional Rite of the Roman Church (also known as the Traditional Latin Mass, the Vetus Ordo or Extraordinary Form), represents the continuous development of the primary form of the Roman Catholic Church’s worship since the time of the Apostles.

As the primary vehicle for the Roman Church’s liturgical tradition, this rite provided the basis of the New Rite of the Mass promulgated in 1969.

This weekend is intended to offer a deeper understanding of the Church’s liturgical tradition, examining its constitutive elements and their origins. It will therefore be of interest to those wishing to familiarise themselves with the Traditional Rite as well as to those seeking a deeper understand of the Church’s liturgy more generally.

The weekend will offer several talks covering various elements of the Mass, with time for discussion and questions.

Mass will be celebrated in the Traditional Rite, with opportunities to pray the Divine Office in common and for Adoration.

Free time for walks, reflection and social is built into the weekend.
